MOTORBIKE RENTALS IN HANOI

We provide more fully guided motorbike tours than motorbike rentals, so our rental fleet can be booked well in advance, especially during busy travel periods. If you are planning a self-guided motorcycle trip in Vietnam, we can help you with the timing, route planning, and general itinerary if you already have a rough plan. When you collect your rental bike, we will also provide basic riding information, route advice, and practical tips to help you get started.

Notes For Motorbike Rentals In/From Hanoi

Please note that we do not offer one-way motorbike rentals because we have only one office in Hanoi. Many customers ask whether we can deliver or collect motorcycles in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City/HCMC) or elsewhere in Vietnam. Unfortunately, the answer is NO. All motorcycle and scooter rentals start and finish in Hanoi.

We do not rent motorcycles to inexperienced or novice riders. Vietnam is not the place to learn how to ride a motorcycle or test your basic riding skills. If you are planning to rent a 250cc trail bike, you should ideally be over 1.75 m tall and have good motorcycle riding experience, preferably with a similar bike.

Please choose your motorcycle carefully and be honest about your riding ability. Even if you have already paid a rental deposit, we cannot provide a refund if you are unable to safely ride the motorcycle you reserved.

We also do not operate a 24-hour rental system. If you collect a motorcycle before 4 pm, the day is charged as a full rental day. For example, if you collect the bike at midday on Monday and return it at midday on Tuesday, the rental is charged as two days, not one.

However, there is some flexibility around our opening and closing times. Collecting a motorcycle between 4 pm and 5 pm or returning it between 8 am and 10 am is free of charge. This allows you to collect the bike in the late afternoon and start riding the following morning, or return late in the evening and bring the motorcycle back early the next day.

The minimum rental period is two days.

A 50% rental deposit is required before you collect the motorcycle, motorbike, or scooter. The deposit is non-refundable if you cancel your booking or after you have collected the rented vehicle. The remaining balance is payable when you pick up the motorcycle.

What Bike?

Choosing the right motorcycle is extremely important, particularly if you are not accustomed to riding in Vietnam. We generally recommend that inexperienced riders do not start with a powerful automatic scooter. Automatic scooters can have sensitive acceleration, limited engine braking, and a different handling feel from a traditional motorcycle.

For riders with limited motorcycle experience, a small 100cc semi-automatic motorcycle can be easier to control and provides a gentle introduction to Vietnamese road conditions. Learning to change gears encourages a slower and more controlled riding style, while the traditional foot-operated rear brake can feel familiar to anyone who grew up riding a bicycle.

For experienced riders, don’t be afraid of a manual clutch motorcycle. With some basic practice, most competent riders can quickly become comfortable with the clutch and gear changes. A manual motorcycle can also provide better control, smoother shifting, and more confidence on mountain roads and uneven surfaces.

The most suitable bike depends on your riding experience, height, physical ability, route, and personal preference. Choosing the right motorcycle before setting off can make a major difference to both safety and enjoyment.

Our motorcycle rental prices below are listed in US dollars (USD) to make the figures easier to understand and compare. You can pay the rental balance in any major currency that we accept. We prefer displaying prices in USD because Vietnamese dong contains many zeros, which can sometimes make rental prices unnecessarily confusing.

Semi-automatic Scooters

Our Honda semi-automatic motorcycles include the Wave Alpha, Wave S, Wave RS, Wave RSX, and Blade 110cc. These motorcycles were manufactured in Vietnam between 2013 and 2018 and are kept in near-new condition. They are simple, economical, and easy to handle, making them a practical choice for motorbike rental in Hanoi.

Please note that we no longer offer 100cc motorcycles, unlike many other rental shops in Hanoi. Our monthly rental rate starts at US$ 50, with a maximum of 1,500 km per month.

For longer trips, including riding through the Northern mountains or traveling south through Vietnam, we normally recommend a different motorcycle with unlimited mileage, as these small semi-automatic bikes are primarily intended for commuting and shorter-distance riding around Hanoi.

We have been providing near-new and late-model Honda motorcycles for rental in Hanoi for many years. We offer genuine Honda products only, with no other brands or Chinese copies. When comparing motorcycle rental prices, we recommend checking the exact model, engine size, and manufacturing year rather than choosing purely based on the cheapest daily rate.

Our prices are competitive, but more importantly, we focus on providing reliable, well-maintained motorcycles for a safer and more enjoyable riding experience.

Fully Automatic Scooters

The Honda Lead 125cc and Honda Air Blade 125cc, both from Honda Vietnam, are practical automatic scooters for commuting and everyday riding around Hanoi. The monthly rental rate is US$ 80, with a maximum of 1,500 km per month.

We normally do not recommend these small-wheel automatic scooters for long-distance trips through the Northern Vietnamese mountains or all the way to Southern Vietnam. Their smaller wheels and relatively low ground clearance are less suitable for rough roads, potholes, dirt tracks, and mountainous routes. For these journeys, a motorcycle with larger wheels and better ground clearance is a safer and more comfortable choice.

For riders looking for a lightweight and easy-to-handle automatic scooter, the Honda Vision 110cc is an excellent option. It is compact, light, and practical for everyday transportation around Hanoi, with useful under-seat storage.

The Vision also features modern technology, including fuel injection and an idling-stop system, helping improve fuel efficiency during city riding. Monthly rental is approximately US$ 60-80, depending on the motorcycle’s manufacturing year. This option is mainly available for expats commuting in Hanoi.

50cc Scooters

Our 50cc scooters are the smallest motorcycles in our rental fleet and are intended for riders who do not have a motorcycle licence that is legally recognized for larger-engine bikes in Vietnam. Under Vietnamese regulations, motorcycles up to 50cc can generally be ridden without a conventional motorcycle licence, subject to the applicable rules.

These small scooters are lightweight, compact, and low-powered, making them suitable mainly for short-distance riding and commuting around Hanoi rather than long-distance touring or mountain adventures.

Our 50cc scooters are Taiwanese SYM products. We use SYM because comparable new Japanese Honda 50cc scooters are considerably more expensive, with prices that can reach around US$ 2,000-3,000.

The 50cc scooters available from us were manufactured between 2017 and 2019 and are maintained in near-new condition, offering a practical and economical option for riders looking for a small scooter in Hanoi.
